Mariposa Dairy is an innovative market leader in goat and sheep cheese manufacturing and we are currently seeking a unique individual who will excel in the position of Human Resources Coordinator. We are located 100 km north of Toronto, Ontario in the beautiful Kawartha Lakes

In order to stay on the cutting edge of food safety practices we have achieved HACCP and FSSC 22000 certification.

Title: Human Resources Coordinator  (wage TBD)

Reports to: Plant Manager

Human Resources Coordinator

Accountability:

The HR Coordinator will be a key member of the Management Team and will report directly to the Plant Manager of Mariposa. This position will be key in participating in major decisions pertaining to strategic initiatives, operating model and operational execution.

Overview:

The Human Resources Coordinator guides and manages the overall provision of Human Resources services, policies, and programs. The HR Coordinator originates and leads Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented; high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior and motivated workforce.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions
  • Establishes a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program; counseling managers on candidate selection; conducting and analyzing exit interviews; recommending changes
  • Establishes and conducts orientation and training programs
  • Maintains a pay plan by conducting periodic pay surveys; scheduling and conducting job evaluations; preparing pay budgets; monitoring and scheduling individual pay actions; recommending, planning, and implementing pay structure revisions
  • Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors
  • Maintains employee benefits programs
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records;
  • Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures
  • Maintains historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system; keeping past and current records
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing professional networks

Title: Production Coordinator (wage TBD)

Reports to: Operations Manager

Overview:

Working on a rotating shift schedule, this position is responsible for day-to-day leadership, supervision, and co-ordination of the production staff to achieve required production, environmental and quality standards in a safe and efficient manner, and for promoting and maintaining positive working relationships within the production group. This position reports to the OPS Manager.

General Functions:

  • Safety MUST be the highest priority. Ensure the plant complies with all Ontario Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations and Mariposa Dairy policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and focus on continuous improvement of KPI’s. Provide action plans for the improvement of KPI results.
  • Daily expectations: attendance review, ensure correct ‘recipes’ at each station, ensure communication of daily run schedule, attendance at relevant meetings, monitor production process flow, monitor product quality, set stage for following day
  • Ensure annual production volumes meet or exceed plan and operate at full capacity on a regular basis by minimizing plant downtime.
  • Protecting company assets through a sound program of maintenance including good housekeeping, record keeping and proper security control.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance department to prioritize, plan and complete department routine and shutdown maintenance.
  • Ensure environmental compliance for the facility by being aware of regulatory requirements and ensuring these requirements are met. Ensure that routine inspections are completed
  • Maintain all aspects of the Food Safety FSSC – ISO22000 quality system
  • Develop and maintain positive employee relations through good communication and fair treatment that is consistent with Mariposa Dairy’s core values and objectives.
  • Ensure that all department employees are properly trained and oversee the continuous improvement of all department training materials
