Sales Manager, Food service / Ingredients

Mariposa Dairy is a leading manufacturer of goat and sheep milk cheeses based in Lindsay, Ontario.  Our aim is to provide the highest quality goat and sheep milk cheese products in North America through the efforts of our skilled and valued team for the benefit of our customers and community.

We are looking for an enthusiastic National Sales Manager to grow our business with an emphasis on food service and ingredient sales. Our ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge in specialty cheese and the food service or ingredient sales industry.

Position Function:

  •         Participate in business-level strategic planning.  Demonstrate commitment and accountability to financial and company goals.
  •         Assist In negotiations of large/strategic customer contracts as required.
  •         Maintain a comprehensive database to track all new, existing and target accounts.
  •         Provide business-wide expertise in areas of responsibility.
  •         Proactively identity business opportunities/threats and recommend appropriate actions.
  •         Manage and attend key customer and industry trade shows.
  •         Prepare category reviews and leverage Insights to Identify sales opportunities and Improve Mariposa category position.  Utilize this Information to secure new product listings and implement account, category, and or regional specific sales and marketing Initiatives.
  •         Forecast sales volume for products to ensure adherence to annual plan and optional product distribution.
  •        Collaborate with Supply chain, Customer Service, and Distribution to initiate new business opportunities, resolve Issues, and provide optimal customer service.
  •         Implement price Increases by coordinating Information to accounts to ensure effective and timely Implementation of price Increases as required to meet company deadlines.
  •         Liaise with operations to ensure fulfillment, logistics and ultimately customer satisfaction for all orders.
  •         Schedule and execute product tastings with target and new accounts to familiarize potential leads.
  •         Support new product development and go to market strategy.
  •         Develop and implement effective sales strategies.
  •         Provide timely and effective solutions aligned clients’ needs.
  •         Additional duties as assigned.

Key Attributes of the Ideal Candidate:

  •        University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  •        3 years’ experience including managing key accounts, dairy or related industry companies.
  •        Strong analytical, planning, presentation, and problem-solving skills.

General Labourer

We are currently seeking full-time General Labourers at our 45,000 square foot production facility just off Hwy 36 in Lindsay, Ontario.

PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK SHIFTS ON A ROTATING BASIS. TYPICAL SHIFTS ARE 8.5 HOURS STARTING BETWEEN 6:00 AM AND NOON AS WELL AS SATURDAY SHIFTS FROM SEPTEMBER TO DECEMBER.

No prior experience needed. We will train you!

Our ideal candidate is punctual and hardworking with excellent attendance and is comfortable working with food on a fast-paced production line.

Duties:

Pasteurizer

Job Description

We are currently seeking one full-time Pasteurizer at our 45,000 square foot production facility just off Hwy 36 in Lindsay, Ontario.

You MUST be able to work 8 hour shifts, 24 hours a day on a rotating basis (Pasteurization is a 24 hour operation, split between 3 shifts).

Pasteurizing Milk needs to be done whenever raw milk is received. This involves preparing the pasteurizer for use, sanitizing the vats that will be used, and properly setting up all the piping and corrections. It also involves making the appropriate switches to different tanks and vats. It is very important that protocols be observed to ensure culture and microbial enzyme are added to the vats.

Responsibilities:

  • Receiving milk and sending whey, C.I.P. of vats, tanks, floors, walls, ceiling, racks, and outside of vats. Cleanliness is essential for the well-being of the cheese.
  • Maintaining Raw Milk Receiving Bay, Pasteurizing Room and Setting Room.
  • Receiving milk.
  • Preparing for pasteurizing i.e.,acid wash, line sanitation, setting up pipes, operating the pasteurizer, and C.I.P.
  • Operate automated processing equipment and C.I.P.’s
  • Record accurate and detailed processing records.
  • Interaction with maintenance and supervisory staff regarding processing issues.
  • Food Safety & Quality responsibility as outlined in SOP’s and other training materials provided.
  • Fully understanding how to set up for Alkaline, acid and sanitize wash of all vats, tanks and pipes.
  • Culture and Rennet: How to measure culture and when to prepare and add culture and rennet to the vat.
  • Daily and Weekly cleaning must be recorded on a check list or on a chart depending on the type of cleaning.
  • Titrations, ATP testing and PH testing.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

The above duties all have procedures written for their operations and need to be followed closely.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Minimum high school diploma and/or relevant food or dairy processing experience
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), including excellent sanitary habits
  • Knowledge of HACCP and HTST pasteurizing systems as applied to a dairy processing plant an asset
  • Milk and cream Graders’ Certificate and HTST pasteurizer course will be pursued when available
  • Flexibility of hours is essential. Some work on statutory holidays and / or weekends
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Good communication skills, including written and verbal
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Mechanical aptitude and solid troubleshooting abilities

Sanitation Crew Member

Job Description

We are currently seeking a full-time Sanitation Crew Member at our 45,000 square foot production facility just off Hwy 36 in Lindsay, Ontario.

Under the direction of the Sanitation Supervisor, the Sanitation Crew Member will perform all duties of production and sanitation in an efficient, effective and timely manner. The crew member will be responsible and accountable to the Sanitation Supervisor for ensuring that the Sanitation of the Plant is completed on a daily basis and to Mariposa Dairy’s standards. Food Safety and Handling is of the utmost importance. Flexibility of hours is essential for this job, depending on daily production targets. This position will clean designated areas of production and office areas using the HACCP guidelines.

Please note that hours will vary based on the hours of production. Typical start times vary between 8:30 pm to 11:00 pm. Shifts run until finished (approximately 4-8 hours). A shift premium applies to all hours worked between 6:00 pm and 6:00 am.

DUTIES

  • Daily cleaning of Floors, Drains, Mixer, Portioner, Packline
  • Follow HACCP procedures for all cleaning
  • Rinse, foam, scrub and rinse all surfaces that the product touches in mixing room
  • Daily wipe-down of packaging and Shipping/Receiving area
  • Sweep and wash all floors
  • Empty garbage cans, Recycling as required
  • Other duties, as assigned

Truck Driver / Labourer

We are currently seeking a full-time Truck Driver / Labourerat our 45,000 square foot production facility just off Hwy 36 in Lindsay, Ontario.

DUTIES

This position is responsible for ensuring the daily transfer of cheese and inventory stock is accomplished safely, efficiently and in a manner that does not expose Mariposa to risk. This position reports to the Shipping Supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and drive a zero incident safety culture, by providing a proactive safe work environment through an effective health and safety program. Safety MUST be the highest priority.
  • Ensure Vemag carts of cheese are moved from loading room at St. David Street location into the shunt trailer and transported to St. George Street location.
  • Ensure cleaned Vemag carts are returned from St. George Street location to St. David Street location as per the Cheesemaking schedule.
  • Transport, load and unload inventory between St. George Street location and St. David Street location.
  • Ensure that trucks and trailers are washed regularly as per SOP.
  • Transport inventory to Finica Food Specialties in the GTA.
  • Assist on plant production line, as needed.
  • Assist, if necessary, in goat and sheep milk pickups from Lenberg Farms.
  • Assist in data entry for Production Supervisor pertaining to cheese making record keeping.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • AZ licence.
  • Clean driving record for at least three (3) years.
  • Available to work shifts (including Friday evenings, up to 3 hours).
  • Ability to successfully complete a Milk Grader Transport course after commencing employment.
  • Heightened awareness of GMPs for cheese movement.
